Tesco Naas, largest Tesco store in Europe 2012
BSH are proud to have delivered a gas fired heating plant to Tesco to provide heating and hot water facilities, chilling systems, firefighting systems and cold water storage boosting systems to the largest retail outlet Tesco have ever built in Europe. The complex is located in Naas, Co Kildare, Ireland
Aims
Tesco Ireland were tasked with reducing their carbon footprint whilst also utilizing a tri-generation chp system. BSH were engaged to facilitate the distribution systems, firefighting, potable water heating and boosted water storage for this site. A large multi cabin was constructed to house the backup 900kw of gas fired systems along with the potable water storage boosted systems and water heating.
Construction
The Gas fired cabin was built to blend into the rooftop plant area. The plant was developed specifically in two sections, hot and cold providing a thermal barrier between each. Brian Hood, Managing Director of BSH comments "As distributors of Sime products we were pleased to have been selected to compete for the manufacture and delivery of the equipment. The PPR uses Sime boiler technology in its Dewey boiler range to provide the 900kw of heating needed for the entire facility. The plant was manufactured and delivered in a plug and play combination.
Implementation
BSH undertook the mechanical water based engineering. The facility uses under a combination of Low Temperature Hot Water air handling units, hot and cold water fan coil systems, CHP driven tri-generation plant for chilling equipment, 3000L cold water storage and pressure boosting systems for hot and cold domestic water use and Firefighting boosted water provision for hose reel systems throughout the complex. The complex also recycles rainwater for toilets and urinal systems as a means of water conservation.
We are delighted to have been provided the opportunity to work with the team in delivering this project.
Although the first pre-package room we manufactured for Tesco Ireland it was the largest and most complex of all. The challenge was met and with the customer highly satisfied Tesco ordered a further nine package plants across Ireland.
