Stable Court in Antrim has become the first accommodation provider of its type to install a modular heating solution designed by local heat engineering specialists BSH. The Antrim based tourist destination has invested £63,000 in the innovative system which will see it become one of the first district heating systems fuelled by biomass and accepted into the Government’s Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme.
The complex consists of seven dwellings including four apartments and three townhouses, which having previously used propane gas for heating and hot water are now being fuelled by a carbon neutral, renewable heating system which in turn is providing significant economic and environmental savings.
Commenting on the investment Kenneth Wilson, proprietor Stable Court said, “I was attracted to the concept of biomass as it offered economic efficiency, predictability and sustainability. In these times of increasing uncertainty over energy costs, this made good sense both economically and environmentally. Although the system represents substantial capital investment, I am confident that it will produce significant savings in the longer term.
“Our business and leisure customers have high expectations of our accommodation and it is our aim that this investment will demonstrate our commitment to the environment and sustainability. The new system will displace 48,000kgs of carbon annually.”
As tourism operators seek to increase revenue and address the increasing need for cost-effective fuel solutions, Mr. Wilson believes this system will not only save money, but allow them to tap into a more environmentally conscious customer base.
The system is designed by BSH whose Managing Director, Brian Hood, said, “With the cost of traditional energy contributing substantially to rising operating costs and recent concerns from local business over additional charges being applied to gas bills of up to 10% this year alone, businesses are increasingly turning to energy efficiency as a way to not just be more sustainable, but also cut their overheads.”
“Our team installed a 99kw biomass boiler that along with the Government’s commercial RHI payments will ensure that the technology pays for itself in less than 12 months, and will allow Stable Court to get on with delivering premier accommodation for their customers in a sustainable and cost-effective manner, while removing their annual fuel bill of over £20,000 for the next 20 years.”
Stable Court is a glowing example of how installing a renewable technology can really benefit your business. For further information on installing a bespoke biomass heating solution please contact BS Holdings on 028 9073 2233.
